Empowering Children Worldwide

Children, Justice and Peace Global (CJP Global) is dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families  who are facing the greatest threats. Together, we strengthen the systems that protect children, support them to access justice and work towards peace in their communities.

Our priorities for children and young people

CJP convenes the best available global expertise to support governments, communities and civil society organisations engaged in transforming health, education and social protection systems, with a focus on ending the institutionalisation of all children.   We work especially with the children and young people most usually left behind - refugee and migrant children, as well as children with complex disabilities and high support needs.

Empowering Children Through Systems Change

CJP Global brings together experts, governments, civil society, and communities to co-design programmes that reflect the voices of those most affected - including care-leavers, children, persons with disabilities, refugees, migrants, and minority groups. Grounded in nearly 100 years of global research, our approach is clear: institutionalisation harms children, while family-based care leads to better outcomes.

We ensure support is tailored to individual needs, empower communities to advocate for their rights, and work toward long-term change - reducing harm and enabling more children to thrive and reach their full potential.

Access to all rights for all children

All children should have access to all their rights.  Poverty or disability can never be  reasons to separate a child from their family.  Insufficient resources can never be a reason to exclude children with disabilities from the healthcare, education and social support they need.  If a child is not a citizen - such as refugee or migrant children - or if they do not reside in a specific locality - such as internally displaced children - the state has a responsibility to provide equal access to services as all other children.

Translating these rights into practice is challenging - especially during war, disaster and other emergencies.

Our team bring real, practical solutions in the most complex situations.

Protecting Children in Emergencies

In times of war and disaster, all children face heightened risks - but those separated from their families are especially vulnerable to harm.

Too often, global response defaults to placing these children in residential institutions, a practice proven to be deeply damaging and in violation of their rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

CJP is committed to changing this. We unite leading global experts with local knowledge to develop effective, rights-based responses that keep children safe and connected to families.

Our work helps reduce reliance on institutional care during emergencies and ensures children receive the support they need to thrive - even in the most challenging circumstances.

Mobilising inclusive, community-based responses

CJP Global works in partnership with local communities, governments, and international organisations to strengthen systems of care - including health, inclusive education, social services, and vital community supports.

By redirecting resources away from harmful institutions and towards inclusive, community-based services, we help ensure that children who were previously excluded - due to disability, discrimination, or lack of   access - can thrive within their families and communities. This approach reduces family separation and promotes greater inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for all.
